Another Design Table Question

Another Design Table Question

Another Design Table Question

(OP)
I can't make my 'hole wizard' comand import values into the DT.  I'm sure I've done something similar in the past, but maybe I was doing Cut|Through All.  Is it possible?

RE: Another Design Table Question

Maybe I'm not understanding what you mean, but the HW cannot "import" into a DT. The DT has to "pull" the information from the model.

Can you give a better explanation of the problem?

cheers

RE: Another Design Table Question

Yeah, my bad.  Wrong terminology.  not 'import.'  'pull'

However, you can't use HW data in a Design Table?  Even if it alters the model?  Too bad.  I'll have to put my holes in the old fashioned way.

RE: Another Design Table Question

No, I use data from HW in design tables.  I usually just scale positions, not change hole sizes, but it can be done.  Just make sure you are using the correct dimension names.  Sometimes it requires a bit of digging through the feature tree to determine what dimension actually controls the hole size.

RE: Another Design Table Question

Actually a DT can control hole sizes created by the HW.
It helps if you first name the dimensions of the seed hole to make the DT easier to understand. To make creation of the DT easier, create one config manually, then insert a DT using the auto-create option. The DT will then populate itself with the variable dimensions.

Also the seed hole should be be given a generic name to avoid confusion with holes sizes given by the HW. Unfortunately the hole name cannot be controlled by the DT.

An alternative method I have used, is to create different configs using separate HW holes and use the DT to control the positions & suppression state.

RE: Another Design Table Question

Ooops ... sorry, that should have been "To make creation of the DT easier, create two configs manually, then insert a DT using the auto-create option. The DT will then populate itself with the variable dimensions".
