Importing CADKEY files to SW

Importing CADKEY files to SW

Importing CADKEY files to SW

(OP)
Hi, I am having a problem importing a file I recieved from a client.  He said the file was created in CADKEY and the *.prt extension makes me believe him.  However, when I try to open the file in SW I get a 3D sketch and a 2D sketch, the 2D sketch has most of the part shape but almost anything that is curved becomes a circle or ellipse so it is just a big jumbled mess.  Is there any way to resolve this or has anyone had this problem before?  I appreciate any input, thank you.

RE: Importing CADKEY files to SW

Have the client send the file to you that SW can read.

RE: Importing CADKEY files to SW

Tell you client to send you an iges or step file. Or if he sends you the Cadkey file everything must be on the same level and there can not be any layouts in the file otherwise Solid Works will read everything and all you can see in Solid Works is a mess. We use Solid Works as well as Cadkey so if you have trouble with your client translating the file for you i can do that for you. So far what we found the best way to go is step the model out from Cadkey and Solid Works read the step file perfectly.
