May i know difference between Organic and Inorganic fibers
Alumina and graphite fibers are coming under which category

Thanks

RE: FIBER

Generelly, organic fibers have only carbon and hydrogen atoms, rest are inorganic. alumina is for sure inorganic. But, not sure of graphite

RE: FIBER

As graphite is carbon it is organic.

RE: FIBER

Graphite or carbon fiber is generally considered inorganic as there is no hydrogen. The definition of organic is not precise but the purpose is to categorize things together that have similar properties. Carbon fibers behave like other inorganic fibers like fiberglass and alumina.

RE: FIBER

Here is an excellent link on inorganic fibers.

One other characteristic they mention is that inorganic fibers are uninflammable.
