Alignment of rotated object

Alignment of rotated object

Alignment of rotated object

(OP)
I would like to rotate a block which is just a rectangle to align with a line.  The bottom LH corner is the base point for rotation and the line which passes through the base point and is approx 1/3 up the RH side of the rectangle.  Instead of using the measured angle and inserting when requested I would like to know how to use the ref point requested and get the bottom line of the rectangle set to the line.

Hope that is clear enough.

Any help would be appreciated

RE: Alignment of rotated object

try using the ALIGN command.
select the rectangle, then the bottom left as 1st source point, then endpoint of the line as 1st destination point, then bottom right of the rectangle as 2nd source point followed by other endpoint of the line as 2nd destination point
hit return twice and you're done

RE: Alignment of rotated object

...or You can use the "_reference" option of the "_rotate" command:

_rotate -> pick basepoint -> type _reference (r) -> old angle -> endpoint of new angle...

RE: Alignment of rotated object

Is the rectangle already at a different angle, or is it just normal?  If you have a line that is already passing through your base point of the rectangle, then you simply use this line to define your angle.  You pick your basepoint, and then simply pick another point along that line when it is asking for rotation angle (I get the picture you are typing in an angle?)

If the rectangle is already rotated at an angle, and you need to rotate to a new angle, this is where you would use the reference part of the command.  After picking the basepoint, type R for the reference, then you select the basepoint again, and a point along the rectangle to define the reference angle (you are essentially creating the zero line) and then you select a point along the line to define where you are rotating to.

Sorry if this is a confusing post, it's hard to explain in just words!
