Initial sketcher dimensions too big!

Initial sketcher dimensions too big!

Initial sketcher dimensions too big!

(OP)
Folks-
We use inch units in our start-part and start-assy models as and in the majority of our models.  When we start a new feature (e.g. extrusion, hole, etc) using the sketcher, the sketcher seems to assume large dimensions to begin with.  It's as if Pro/E thinks were using millimeter units although we are explicitly declaring inch units both in config.pro and in the start model units.  This makes for regenerating complications because of the large difference between the dimensions we WANT and the dimensions we are forced to start out with.  Is there a fix for this?

RE: Initial sketcher dimensions too big!

There is no config.pro option to change this.  I've seen some people use a start part with a dimensioned 1" surface, in order to scale the first feature.  The surface can then be deleted, after the first sketch.

Personally I just have a habit of zooming in with the wheel a couple times.

This should be a config.pro option, just like a lot of other things that are not.

Tunalover - here is a config option.  What release are you using?

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time.

RE: Initial sketcher dimensions too big!

What I usually do is start sketcher with a simple line and change its size, then sketcher refits to a reasonable view.

RE: Initial sketcher dimensions too big!

In sketcher mode, each grid square is about 30 units, so just zoom in to get the approximate value of the grid on your screen. After doing about 100,000 sketches, you kind off overlook that issue smile

RE: Initial sketcher dimensions too big!

if you are going to stay small
redefine the attributes of your planes
fit radius 1
you may or may not like it

RE: Initial sketcher dimensions too big!

Make the sketch just as if all was well, with enormous dimensions, then check the box lock scale, revise one of the dimensions to proper size, the sketch will regenerate to proper size. Always keep the sketch simple. (no rounds)

Heckler-
What does that config option do?
