Jacket water system flow rates for Cat 398, 399

Jacket water system flow rates for Cat 398, 399

(OP)
I'm looking for a gaphical representation, chart, or any other form of data that describes jacket water flow rates of the caterpillar 398 and 399 diesel engines. I would also like to know how the flow rate is effected with a change in inlet temperature. consider average load.

RE: Jacket water system flow rates for Cat 398, 399

I've got data for a marine 850HP D398 that lists seawater flow at 230 gpm at 1225 rpm.  Jacket water (coolant) flows are usually about the same.  Jacket water systems are almost always equipped with a thermostat, so inlet air temperature and seawater temperature have little effect on jacket water flow once the engine has warmed up.

Your Friendly Local Dealer should be able to bury you in PDF files with data, including performance curves for the pumps.
