SWX and SharePoint
SWX and SharePoint
(OP)
Does anyone have any experience using SharePoint as a data management tool with SWX?
I'm in a new job which, at the moment, has nothing in the way of PDM or the like. Our licenses of SWX include PDMWorks, so I know we can go that route if desired. I've got experience installing/using PDMWorks, so I know what we'll be getting into.
In discussions on this topic, my boss mentioned that he had seen a demo of SharePoint and was impressed by it. I wasn't in attendance for the demo, so I can't speak to the merits of SharePoint specifically. I can see how it would be desirable to use only one collaboration tool for the sake of simplicity, I just have no idea how SharePoint would work with SWX/PDMWorks.
We would be using SharePoint for much more than just managing SWX data (firmware, software, PCB layouts, etc.), which is the reason I'm even asking. PDMWorks would be more than adequate for our mechanical design documents.
Any thoughts or experiences on this?
