I am using SW2006 and a design company I deal with is using SW2005.They are having a problem with my native and STL files I send them.Should both SW's not be fully compatible.

RE: Saving Files

No ... Most solid modellers cannot (or do not) have the ability to be backwards compatible.

RE: Saving Files

DamianC,
Just an idea. Would it not be easier to change your SolidWorks back to SolidWorks 2005 on your next project for them?

RE: Saving Files

You shouldn't be having a problem with the STL files.  Try saving them as ASCII instead of Binary.  If they have SW, then try using Parasolid or STEP.

RE: Saving Files

If you still have the SW2005 disks, just do a separate install for their project. You might have to do a complete uninstall, then reinstall SW2005, then SW2006.
All in all, a good reason to keep your last version and create a new install of the next instead of doing upgrades all the time.
Are there any problems doing this?
