silencer after safety valve?

silencer after safety valve?

silencer after safety valve?

(OP)
Someone recomend me a silencer after the safety valve to avoid the noise in the test procedure, I'm not sure that be a good practice because I feel that must achieve the test and adjust with all the normal conditions at wich will operate this safety valve, like the dP betwen the Input and output, flow capacity, etc., do you know if has been aplied succesfully these before?

Advanced thanks.

RE: silencer after safety valve?

Check this link and look at the photo with the cooling tower to the right side.  Then look at all the silencers on the safety valves on top of the HRSG.

Yes, it has been done before.

RE: silencer after safety valve?

The only process materials I've seen them used on is Air, Steam and Natural Gas.  Even then there were several hoops to jump through.

RE: silencer after safety valve?

It is quite normal to fit silencers after safety relief valves on most duties I can think of, but you must give the silencer supplier all the process/valve/piping details as they will need to make sure that the total back pressure applied by the silencer with the exhaust piping does not exceed the valve limitations and unduly restrict the flow.

I can suggest the following companies;

USA / North America
Fluid Kinetics Corp
www.fluidkinetics.com

UK / Europe - Flo-Dyne Ltd
www.flo-dyne.net

Cheers

I forgot tell you that the safety valves are in a steam boiler.

Advanced thanks.

Use a long discharge pipe installed vertically as most Utility Power plants use in the North East.
