How does Advanced Select work?

How does Advanced Select work?

How does Advanced Select work?

(OP)
I've not used Advanced select much in the past, so I'm not sure how it works. It seems to be inconsistant.

All of my make items are named 2081-D001 or 2081-A001 etc, depending on whether its a part or assembly. If I query the SW Document Name and select Contains for the condition with a value of 2081. It finds all the make parts and assemblies as expected. But if I query A00 it finds nothing. Also a query of 15 found all components containing a "5" and "1", not in any order.

How does this thing work? It looks like numbers work better than letter characters?

Thank you,

RE: How does Advanced Select work?

It seems like it stops searching for anything after the hyphen "-", it only searches for all character variations  within the "2081".

I wonder the reason? I'd like to know how it works. It doesn't appear to follow typical search procedures.
