Duct bead as a library part

Duct bead as a library part

Duct bead as a library part

(OP)
Hello again,
I'm trying to add a bead to the end of a duct as a library part (i have 20-30 duct that require the same bead). I am coming across a few problems, mainly probably due to my inexperience.
1. I have some knowlege of library parts, in so much as i realize they need certain things specified to successfully insert into a part file.
2. my bead is a "revolved base/boss" of a sketch on a plane revolved around an axis. This plane does not necessarily exist on the part i'm trying to add the bead to.
3. when saving a library part SW automatically selects the references or dimensions (this does not lend itself to dimensions). The plane mentioned in 2. above is one of these automatically selected.
So, in a nutshell, I have a library part that in essence only needs the end and outside surfaces specified to place it, but i've got this other plane that needs specifying. I realize that the library feature could rotate on the duct end freely but surely there must be a workaround for something as std as a bead?
Any help would be appreciated, Derek

RE: Duct bead as a library part

You need to make a base, then make your features and highlight all the features you want to use. the base feature cannot be used in a library part. try that and see if that helps... the help is pretty helpful in this area too... try reading that if you have not already
