Assembly Mate
Assembly Mate
(OP)
I have a general question about assembly mates.
I have inserted a part into an assembly and it is floating around the screen, not fixed anywhere.
Is there a simple way of fixing the part to the assembly origin without using mates? ie, as if I had inserted the component using the Insert Component command and just clicked the tick.
Paul.

RE: Assembly Mate
If you drag the part from the part window into the assembly and hover over the assembly origin with the mouse pointer before letting go of the mouse button 2 arrows appear.
When this happens let go of the mouse button and the part is mated to the origin (fixed).
Alternatively drag the part name from the top of the part tree and drop it on to the top level (assembly name) in the assembly rree. Now find the part in the assembly tree, right click and select fix
RE: Assembly Mate
Click on Browse to select the part/assy to insert.
Click on the left tab in the Feature Manager. Expand the tree in the upper left corner of the graphic window and click on the Origin. Your inserted part will be fixed and its origin coincident with the assy origin.
