Excel data input into CATIA

Excel data input into CATIA

I usually get the loft data to re engineer a part. Sometimes it is so large, that it takes good chunk of the day just entering. Can you import such data thru excel into CATIA, or is there any better sugestion.

RE: Excel data input into CATIA

gsejrmech - you can edit the script to increase the number of points to add.  If you need some help with that, post something in this thread.

Regards,
Derek

hey ferdo, i checked out the link but it converts geometric set already in place in to text file . I need it  the other way around. I m not VB savvy so I am not sure if you can reverse the alogirthm somehow, plus I don't even know how to apply any script downloaded to CATIA. I have one that hides all plane in the assembly mode, but still haven't applied it yet also.

RE: Excel data input into CATIA

There is an application that comes with Catia that does what you are asking.

Search your computer for this file: (if you have documentation installed)

cfyugexternalfile.htm

CAD design engineering services -  Catia V4, Catia V5, and CAD Translation.  Catia V5 resources - CATBlog.

RE: Excel data input into CATIA

do a little search in catia help. I don't have it on right now, but I used this feature to make a curve for an airfoil.
you can specify points, make curves and then surfaces, all from excel.

formatting the data is a different story, but look for the help in catia.

RE: Excel data input into CATIA

hello,

the script available from catiav5forum  is a modified version of the one from the online doc.

this file is an excel file in which you put XYZ of points and get points, splines and loft in V5.

there is a max of points/spline but if you edit the VBA code in EXCEL, it should be easy to increase that value.

if you do not want curves but just points, run the script several times with the maximum number of point...

I might improve this in next version.

Thanks for the input
