I need to pu serial numbers into a spread sheet complete with the leading zero's. I need 00001234 not 1234.
I've done this in the past but can not remember how.
Can any one help please?

John

ps it's excel 97.

RE: Leading zero's

Format->Cells and choose "Custom".  Type as many zeros as you want to have places.

RE: Leading zero's

Try putting a single quote in front of the s/n. Then it will treat it as text and display exactly what you typed.

RE: Leading zero's

Format->Cells and choose "Text". All values, including numbers with or without leading zeroes, are treated as literal text

Good Luck
