Flatten a pipe

Flatten a pipe

Flatten a pipe

(OP)
Hey, I'm trying to flatten a pipe (created as a structural member) so a hole can be drilled through and a bolt can be added. Is there a way to press the part and have it flatten? Thanks!

RE: Flatten a pipe

Have you tried sheetmetal? You will have to create it as sheetmetal.

RE: Flatten a pipe

Actually, it sounds like you want the pipe itself to change shape from round to flat.

You can create a sweep or loft feature to make that section of your pipe, or you can try the Deform or Flex features to try to "bend" existing geometry into what you need.

Theophilus,

I've been playing around with deform, and I don't know how to use the flex feature at all, so I've had no luck with that. I figured a loft would be needed, but I was hoping there was a tool that could just stamp the pipe to flatten it, resembling how the piece would actually be created. Thanks for your help.

RE: Flatten a pipe

If you have SW 06, look up Surface Push. It may do what you want.
