Seismic Design of Storage Tanks

Seismic Design of Storage Tanks

(OP)
Hi to everybody!!!

I'm looking for information regarding to the calculation of the natural period of first mode sloshing for a rectangular steel welded tank. I'm using a guidline from the API which uses an approximate formulation for circular tanks which depends on a k factor and the tank diameter. The k factor depends on the diameter to height ratio.

RE: Seismic Design of Storage Tanks

That was covered in the original paper on which the API and AWWA codes were based.  The document was an NRC paper TID-7024, but don't have exact title.
