I want to use flue gas from a boiler which gets heat from a biomass furnace; I want to dry biomass with this hot gas, about 250 degrees centigrade. Any comments or suggestions.

RE: flue gas dryer

We did some work concering the recovering of the waste heat from the flue gases in the bakery industry. The flue gases produced in the main furnace were made to pass through the one end of the heat pipe heat exchanger. On the other end of the heat pipe heat exchanger the air that enters the bakery was made to pass for heating it up. This hot air was used to preheat the contents to be baked and results in significant amount of energy saving in the main heating furnace. In the study, heat pipe heat exchanger made use of the simple copper tube partially filled with water under vacuum. It work as a thermosyphon using gravity for the return of the condensate from the condenser (i.e. from the preheating end) to the evaporator (i.e. flue gases end).

This is useful if you want to transfer heat to some convenient portion where your boimass container is installed. you can make use of the heat pipe jacket around the container to convery heat to the boimass.
