Thread Relief Equation
Thread Relief Equation
(OP)
Hello All,
I am having alot of trouble creating this equation to control a thread relief based on what type of thread pitch you have. I am creating this equation in the part without a design table. I cannot use a design table right now because that module is broken. SWX is trying to figure it out as we speak.
Anyways...here is what I have so far: "Thread Relief"= ( ( 1/56*1.5 ) ) Which gives the right dimension for the thread relief. Now what I need to do is tie that to the major diameter of the thread. So that when the thread size increases so does the thread relief. (see the picture link below for more information)
I think I can do this with an IIF statement but cannot seem to get the syntax correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Thread Relief Equation
I have already incorporated a dimension into an equation(see first post). I am just trying to figure out how to link the major diameter of the thread size to change the thread relief accordingly. I thought I could do this in just one equation where the thread relief formula would equal whatever the major diameter is of the thread.
For the thread relief dimension needs to equate 1.5 threads. That answer will vary depending on what size thread I use.
Hope all this makes sense. If I need to clairify please let me know.

Jon

Is the "1/56" in your example, the pitch?
