Is thermal leakage (short circuiting) across the longitudinal baffle seal a big concern in TEMA BFU exchangers? What about restoring the seal after the shell is pulled?

I cannot change to a different HX type - the design is fixed. Thanks.

I guess it is only a big deal if when you install the heat exchanger and it does not meet your performance needs.  If you pull the bundle you will have to repair the baffle seal, probably by replacing the gasket every time, if you have one.
