how can I get rid of links in a product

how can I get rid of links in a product

how can I get rid of links in a product

(OP)
I have a several products which are part of a big top product. When opening the sub products alone Catia loads the whole top product in the background. These are stand alone products which I would like to use on another design for a different project. Is there a quick way to break these links other than rebuilding the product. Cutting and pasting the parts to a new product still does not break the link. I have no idea how they got linked.

RE: how can I get rid of links in a product

What color are the gears?  I suspect you have contextually linked parts.

If you want the same exact parts, go to TOOLS, OPTIONS, GENERAL, GENERAL, and Turn LOAD REFERENCE DOCUMENTS off.  Note:  This will cause you to have to manually load sub-assemblies by right clicking, and selecting LOAD.

If you want new parts that are similar to the old ones, use COPY/PASTE SPECIAL/BREAK LINK to create new parts whose links are broken.

If you simply want to break the links in your parts, you will need to open each one, look for the "External References" set, and Isolate it.
