Valve interlock system

Valve interlock system

Valve interlock system

(OP)
Maybe someone remembers the name of this product, I remember seeing a vendor demonstration years ago.

Essentially, it was a key lock system to ensure that a particular sequence (in this case, valves) was followed.  The concept was that a 'key' would be inserted in the first valve box which would allow you to open or close it as needed.  That would 'lock' the first key in place and release the second key which you then took to the next valve in the sequence and opened or closed it as needed and so on.  The 'keys' were unique so they would only fit in the next valve that was supposed to be operated.

I've got a case where this might work but I can't remember the name of the product and my googling efforts aren't being successful.

Google "Kirk interlocks"
We use these for electrical interlocking and they can be supplied to do what you want. They may even have a line optimized for valves now.

RE: Valve interlock system

You might as well look at Fortress Interlocks and Castell Interlocks as two more options to the Kirk system. All three are all variations on a theme, and all are high quality. They are common in the electrical industry.

RE: Valve interlock system

I have done something similar, but instead of physical keys, by DCS interlocks.

In my case, the HOA station is wired back to the DCS, not to the MCC. The DCS releases the HOA to be used by the field operator in the correct sequence via the interlocks.

RE: Valve interlock system

We use Smiths and Netherlock interlock systems on all our pig trap valves and manifold valves, you can get them to design any sequence in, word of warning, if you dont mate the locking mechanism correctly to the valve spindle and ensure the locking mechanisms are set up with the valve in the open and closed position correctly they often get problematic and people end up breaking them.

Thanks, the Smiths and Netherlock is what I was looking for.
