Dear all,

I am modeling two gears in contact in a 2-D modeling space. I have been getting the following error message during pre.exe:

***ERROR: THE MASTER SURFACE ASSEMBLY_CONTACT-M IS INVALID. SOME NODES ARE SHARED BY MORE THAN TWO UNDERLYING ELEMENTS.

I'd never gotten this error before modeling 2-D contact. What exactly does this message mean? My master surface is continuous. Also all my elements are in the positive z direction.

Thank you for any help :)

Dear All (again...)

My model passes pre.exe and goes to standard.exe now after I switch my element type from CPS8 to CPS6M. How strange! Anyhow, I am still curious what the error message means.

Thanks!
