Any British geotechs seen the new BS for soil descriptions?
BS EN ISO 14688-1 & BS EN ISO 14688-2
Can anyone hightlight any changes from BS 5930?? The new standards appear to be predominantely for field / insitu descriptions.

RE: British Standards

Errhh - I would also be interested to gain other peoples opinion on this.  Shoudl we be using this standard as the guide to soil desciptions, rather than 5930?

Thats exactly what I am trying to find out. Not a huge amount of difference.

A couple of the main differences seem to be:

1) Cohesive material consistency
2) strength descripitions

Any guesses??
