DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO COVERT 3D MODELS OUT OF AUTOCAD INTO V4?  I AM WORKING ON A SGI OCTANE UNIX BOX?

THANKS IN ADVANCE,

MAX

RE: AUTOCAD R14 TO CATIA V4 TRANSLATION

You need Mechanial Desktop or Inventor, is the short answer.  I believe that there may be an IGES plugin still available somewhere, but I can't point you to it.

AutoCad is basically a 2D only system.  The safest bet, is to find someone who has Mechanical Desktop, (a 2.5D system) or Inventor, (true 3D) and convert it through one of those packages.  Otherwise, rebuild the data from the prints.

THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE.

Hi,

You must have an IGS license for CATIA v4 to import the IGS files. Use IGSCAT (from CATUTILS, but I'm not sure, it was looong time ago).
