??Creating lettering on a cylinder??

??Creating lettering on a cylinder??

??Creating lettering on a cylinder??

(OP)
I am working on a project that requires lettering to be "wrapped around" a cylindrical object, much like, say writing around a cup, exept for it will be cut out of the cylinder... Does anyone have any ideas how to keep the cut depth of the lettering even around the cylinder??  Thanks for the help!

RE: ??Creating lettering on a cylinder??

If you are using WF+ use the Wrap command (Edit-->Wrap)

Pre-WF, use a Formed Datum Curve.

RE: ??Creating lettering on a cylinder??

Oops I somehow cut the last chunk off of that one...

After you wrap the curve you need to use the Offset Tool and change type to Expand in the dashboard. You can then offset the outer surface inwards using the wrapped curve. This was doable before Wildfire as well, but this was part of the big change and it was called something else before.
