Static Load Testing of Wood Structures

Static Load Testing of Wood Structures

Static Load Testing of Wood Structures

(OP)
Is anyone familiar with a method for static load testing on a wood structure? I know this is usually only a typical method for concrete structures since wood and steel members can be field measured and analyzed, but the structure I am considering has some deterioration and the owner has expressed interest in a full-scale investigation.

I have checked ASTM, but have had limited luck. Any leads would be appreciated.

RE: Static Load Testing of Wood Structures

IBC Chapter 17 - specifically 1713 has in-situ load tests.

These three obscure documents may help give you some ideas:

"Testing of a Full-Scale House Under Simulated Snowloads & Windloads"

"Nondestructive Assessment of Single-Span Timber Bridges Using a Vibration Based Method"

That's an AMAZING paper. A printout goes in my library next to ASCE 7.
