Moment and Shear force Envelops

Hi friends,

Can we develop Bending moment envelops/shear force envelops with sap2000 directly. If can pls let me know how to do that..
Assming a beam rigidly supported at several places..

Thanks..

RE: Moment and Shear force Envelops

Let's say you have COMBO1, COMBO2 and COMBO3, and you want to know the envelops of the 3 combos, well make a new combo, let's say COMBOENV and in the box select the 3 combos that you wnat, now between the name of the combo and the combinations there is an option that by default is "ADD", well change it by "ENVO".

That's it!!

Dear Diquan,

I'm little new to sap2000. Can you please explain the procedure little more.

Thank you...

RE: Moment and Shear force Envelops

Ok, go to "Define" there go to "Combinations", there is where you make the load combinations.

Now click on "Add new combo", there on "response combination name" you can type COMBO1, "combination type" type "Linear add" and on "define combination of case result" the let's say the combination you wnat to make is 1.2DL+1.6LL (DL=Dead load, LL=Live load) you choose DEAD and on scale factor type 1.2 and click ADD, now select LIVE and scale factor 1.6 and click ADD (if DEAD is the only "case name" before all this you have to go to "define->load cases" and ADD NEW LOAD and choose LIVE).

Now when you have the 2 loads (DEAD and LIVE) in the box, click OK, as you can see there is now a COMBO1 in the combinations box, now do the same for COMBO2 and COMBO3, but change the combinations (1.4DL, 0.9DL, any combination you can find on the IBC, ACI or the code of your country)

When you have the 2, 3, 4, or 10 combinations you click again on ADD NEW COMBO, on Response Combination Name put ENVO and on Combination type select ENVELOPE and on the DEFINE COMBINATION OF CASE RESULTS select the COMBO1 with scale factor of 1 and click ADD, then COMBO2 with scale factor 1 and click ADD, and so on with all the combos that you want in the envelope when your ready click OK and OK again.

That's it!, is VERY SIMPLE!
