European Equivalence to SS316L or ASME/EN Dual Rated Material

European Equivalence to SS316L or ASME/EN Dual Rated Material

European Equivalence to SS316L or ASME/EN Dual Rated Material

(OP)
For manufacture of a custom flange for pressure application I was looking for European equivalence to SS316L plate stock (per ASME A 240). My major concern for the equivalency is chemical composition. Can someone suggest me a European equivalent to SS316L plate stock (per ASME A 240)? Alternatively I could use dual certified SS316L per ASME A 240 (NA) & European (EN) equivalent.
Pl. help with your experience.
Regards,
bssem

RE: European Equivalence to SS316L or ASME/EN Dual Rated Material

The European equivalent to ASTM A 240 (ASME SA 240) is BS EN 10028-7 FLAT PRODUCTS MADE OF STEELS FOR PRESSURE PURPOSES PART 7: STAINLESS STEELS.  There is also a DIN version of this standard DIN EN 10028-7.  The equivalent grade to Type 316L is X2CrNiMo17-12-2 (1.4404).  You can obtain the standards from Global Engineering Document (http://global.ihs.com) and technical information directly from European producers like Sandvik, Outokumpu, and ThyssenKrupp Nirosta.  North American producers would be AK Steel and Allegheny Ludlum.
