Wildfire on XP64 with AMD Dual Core.

I believe we are working on Wildifire2 M150, I have been asked to inquire on upgrading our systems.

My questions are...

1. Will this version of wildfire work on XP 64 bit?
2. Is the AMD dual core officially supported?
3. Has anyone ran Wildfire2 on the AMD dual core CPU?

Cheers for any advice.

RE: Wildfire on XP64 with AMD Dual Core.

Do the research on 64 bit. It only helps if you need more than 4 gigs of ram.

Either 32 or 64 bit the AMDs are good machines and can be purchased from certified providers like Sun.

Thanks for the replys.  I'm not concerned about the benifits of XP x64 with relation to Wildfire, only in the respect that it will run, I would require XP x64 for it's other benitits/progs.

My main concern is performance improvements with the dual core/twin cpu side, i.e looking at cheaper dual core CPU upgrade compared to a matched pair and a dual CPU mobo.

The OCUS benchmark tests might help you to see the performannce of similar hardware:

You'll need to get hold of Pro/E CD's for XP X64 from PTC or download them from ptc.com
