RE: earthquake loading using of masonry structures using FEA

Check out papers by Antelleno De Luca.  Or search for De Luca.

Prof De Luca is at the University of Naples in Italy and is regarded as an expert in the field of masonry FEA modelling especially with regard to historic structures.

Check also the book by Anil Chopra on Dynamics of Structures, which is an excellent guide on this subject (quite expensive, but worth every penny in my opinion). See here for example.

See also the book of the same name by Penzien and Clough, which is more theoretical but still very good.
