Radiographic Acceptamce criteria in PD 5500

(OP)
Hello,
In section 5 of PD 5500:2000 for localized porosity ,it was mentioned in permitted maximum column: 2% by Area for e<50mm.
Area was defined as below:
"Area to be considered should be the length of the weld affected by porosity, but not less than 50mm,multiplied by the maximum width of the weld"
i am confused about "but not less than 50mm".
If the length of the affected area is 10mm,please advise me whether i must consider length of the affected as 10mm or 50 mm for calculating the permitted area?

thanks,
pardiss

50mm minimum, so any length less than 50mm should be 50mm.
