Does anyone have any experience in running fiberspar linePipe. If so, please advise me on the disadvantages of using the pipe during construction and while in operation. Thank you

RE: fiberspar

Our company is currently installing it on a project for a client. We chose it because we think it is a good product for our client's needs.

What do you mean by disadvantages? How come you don't want to know about its advantages?

In the end, it all comes down to your application, availability, and experience.

RE: fiberspar

I have read about the advantages in their literature but I am looking for problems such as installing the pipe or reliability of the compression fittings or other problems that people have encountered in using the product. While it fits our application, I have not checked on the availabiltiy and we definately do not have the experience in using it. Thank you for your reply

RE: fiberspar

We do not have sufficient number of years, or installations, to answer the compression fittings reliability question ourselves, or any other reliability issues for that matter. However, on the other hand, we don't have any data on problems with it either.

The EUB recently released Directive 056, which basically says that they will accept routine applications, without pressure, sour gas content or location restrictions, for the use of Fiberspar continuous length composite pipe in fresh water, salt water, mulitphase crude oil and LVP product services....

If it's good enough for the EUB, who am I to disagree?

The only disadvantage that I see so far is that they only go up to 4".

By the way, have you heard about BP in Prudhoe Bay? They have had a second leak now. The leaks were due to corrosion. I think Fiberspar would have less problem than steel for that. There is a lot of upside. But of course, if you are the first to suggest Fiberspar, you have a LOT of downside if something goes wrong.
