I have a print that uses the SIMSUN font. The language listed is CHINESE_GB2312. It does not display properly on the screen or on printed copy. How do I get this font to display properly?  sadeyes

RE: DWG Editor Fonts

It's possible that you may have to add Chinese language support for your OS (Windows).  Worst case is that you have to actually load a Chinese OS.  Maybe Chinese version of DWGEditor?  If it does display correctly will you be able to read it? smile

RE: DWG Editor Fonts

handleman is correct. I have dealt with this with a customer in recent years and the only way to show Chinese is to have a Chinese OS. You can try changing the regional settings, but I don't think that will fix the issue.

What specifically had to be done to display Chinese fonts on dwg drawings? Things like a Chinese version of XP or DWGEditor are not readily available in the US. Changing the OS to look at a drawing is not going to happen.

RE: DWG Editor Fonts

I run into the same issue with Japanese drawings.  They have to be opened on a machine with Japanese OS.  Fortunately, we have plenty of Japanese expats working in our office, so it's merely inconvenient to have to get one of them to open (and translate!) the file.

RE: DWG Editor Fonts

Chinese version of XP is needed, but I don't think you can load the english version of SW onto a Chinese seat. You may have to talk to SW about getting a Chinese seat put on that machine, through your VAR of course.

RE: DWG Editor Fonts

If you are in XP you should try the Regional Options in the control panel as mentioned by SBaugh.  These is where you can turn on multi language support including Asian languages.  I do not know if this font is one of them, but it's easy to try.

Go into the Regional and Language Options and on the Languages tab and load the complex script and East Asian languages.  There are other options I don't really understand, but are used to support more languages.  I believe you have to reboot also, but it doesn't take too much time to try.
