Dear all,

Can helium be sealed with NPT or NPTF threads + teflon tape. I would like to hold the gas at 1 atm for about 2 hours. How is helium different from air in terms of leakage?

RE: sealing helium

Tape may be iffy.  Something like plumber's grease might be more of an efficient barrier.  Note that even latex balloons last a couple of hours.

RE: sealing helium

I've used Teflon tape for 6000 psi cryogenic helium, as well as just about any temperature and pressure you can imagine.  I suggest using the tape.

Thank you guys. Both the ideas sound like winners.
