What is to + - alowable for a producer of electrical receptacles?
Underlaying question is "could a plug be held away from the receptacle face .004" and not impose a violation of safety?"

Check out Current Taps and Adapters -UL 498A

I beleive it will depend on the countries you plan on shipping to. If your strictly North America Daleyfish is correct. If your talking about the EU refer to IEC 60320-1 and IEC 60320-2-2.

where can i find the Ul standards UL 486A online. I need a download of the same.

RE: Electrial straight blade devices, receptacles, house 120V type

UL does not give anything away. UL makes you buy from global engineering documents. We made something similar and there was another UL standard, I think it is 247? It is an appliance standard. But ultimately will depend on application to determine which standard to use.
