Cable Capacitive Current

(OP)
Hi, Fellows,

I am new to this Forum.

I am wondering if anybody knows rule of thumbs for calculation of Capacitive current in MV High resistance system.

Thanks  in advance.

RE: Cable Capacitive Current

Hello victa1288, here is some link to help you out:

http://www.postglover.com/products/high_res/hr_instal.htm

This is a site for post glover HRG systems. I do hope the MV application you are refering is applicable. Otherwise, contact the experts in Postglover. In my experience, their guys are very helpful during one of our projects involving 480VAC HRG systems.

RE: Cable Capacitive Current

For a Shielded Cable the charging current could be determine as follow:

             i = 2πfce

Where:
i = Charging current
f = 60Hz
e = Voltage Phase to grd
c = Capacitance
