after relocation of drawings, can't open drawings from within models

after relocation of drawings, can't open drawings from within models

after relocation of drawings, can't open drawings from within models

(OP)
We used to group all parts, sub-assemblies, and drawings of a given assembly into a folder, so a project folder contained a number of (somewhat) self-contained folders.  Then we cut each of a project's drawings from their existing locations and pasted them into one folder, leaving the part and assembly files where they lie.  Opening each drawing individually, we re-linked them to their respective models.  I can still open parts and assemblies from within their respective drawing files (RMB a view > open) but not vice versa.  Now we need to duplicate this project folder (Btw, any advice for doing this efficiently? We currently do it the hard way.), so if it's possible to repair the model-to-drawing links I would like to perform this task concurrently.  Is there a way?

RE: after relocation of drawings, can't open drawings from within models

Not that I know of. The SW model does not keep a link to the drawing in its coding. All SW does is look for a drawing file of the same name, in the same folder.

BTW, if you had used SW Explorer to copy the drawings to another folder, the linnks to the models should have been maintained in the drawings. The original drawings could then have been deleted.

cheers
