cooling tower chemical aditives

(OP)
Hi there

There is a little cooling tower (130 l/s) used to condensate gases in HVAC, which use filtered river cooling water, actually it works without additives and without blowdown, it was working in this way one year, I would like to know the best additives and how calculate the blowdown.

Bye there

RE: cooling tower chemical aditives

Blowdown = Makeup water rate/(COC-1)

COC (cycles of concentration is the ratio of desired maximum TDS in circulating water and TDS of makeup water). As a thumbrule, you should maintain your circulation water TDS below 500 ppm but this varies from case to case. The type of treatment also depends upon your circulating water chemistry and difficult to predict. Speak to Nalco or any other good water treatment chemical suppliers.
