Inserting custom properties into dimension text?

Inserting custom properties into dimension text?

Inserting custom properties into dimension text?

(OP)
I want to be able to insert a custom property into my dimensions. Not necessarily into a note. For example i want my dimension to read MH-(custom property). So that it updates automatically when the property changes due to a change in my design table. It would be even better if we could directly link to the design table. However any help is appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Inserting custom properties into dimension text?

Hi solidben,

I've already sent in an enhancement request to SolidWorks for this. For example, we regularly have notes where we would stated:

INSERT BOLT (ITEM 5) INTO MOUNTING PLATE (ITEM 10) etc.

Would be very useful to link the item numbers. Perhaps you could put in an enhancment request.

RE: Inserting custom properties into dimension text?

You cannot add it to a Driving dimension of a model, but you can (in a drawing) add it to a driven dimension which has had the <DIM> replaced with a linked note. The note can reference the custom property.

A table in the drawing (showing the actual values of MH) might be a better way though.

cheers
