Copy part

(OP)
Hello,
I'm just started working with CATIA 5.14 (early it was CATIA 4.2.4). And I have a problem with copying the parts. How can I copy the part and avoid the association with the first one. I mean that when I change the parameters for the "oryginal" it shouldn't change the copied part.

Thanks
Greg

RE: Copy part

Use "save as", or start the new one with "new from". If the parameters aren't important then you can just copy the body and use "paste special" -> "As result", which will give a dumb solid

RE: Copy part

Note: If you "save as," the UUID won't change.

Use "save as" and click the "save as new document" checkbox.

RE: Copy part

You can also do a Copy/Paste Special, Break Link.  This will provide you with a new document with new UUIDs.  If you have Contextual Links, you will need to re-define the Context.  The part number is usually something like "Copy of XXXXXX", but you can easily rename that.

RE: Copy part

Hi,
because we work in SmarTeam with its problems, I use one way.
Copy Partbody, elments from Geom. sets, axis if U use it. Then paste it into clear part...
It work well, but U must copy all element U use for model...

Good luck
