Part Families in TCE with different Item types

Part Families in TCE with different Item types

Part Families in TCE with different Item types

(OP)
I'd like to begin using Part Families, however, our historical method of indicating a drawing that controls many other parts that vary only in one value we have called an S-drawing.  In TCE our S-drawings have a specific Item type, and our Standard-drawings have another type.

When creating a part family, it needs to be on an S-drawing, but if I begin with an S-drawing type part as the template part, and then try to "assign part numbers" within the template part spreadsheet it assigns S-drawing type part numbers. I need it to assign Standard-drawing type part numbers. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks

RE: Part Families in TCE with different Item types

So you want to create an ass'y with a part family table. Is this what you want to do??

If you tell me a little more about what you're trying to do I might be able to help you. What does the ass'y structure look like? Let me know and I'll write you back...
