Thermodynamics of Stirling engines

Thermodynamics of Stirling engines

Thermodynamics of Stirling engines

Can anyone point me to a source of information on thermodynamics specific to Stirling engines, specifically heat transfer between sufaces and gasses?

Thanks,

Pete.

RE: Thermodynamics of Stirling engines

Usually stirling cycle detail explaned in any of thermodynamic book.

You mean the heat transfer in regenerator, heater or cooler?

Heater and cooler you can consult standard  heat exchanger design.

Heat transfer in regenerator is tricky. Email me your question more detail if you want to talk more on that.

Feel free to email me at rongweius@gmail.com

RE: Thermodynamics of Stirling engines

You might find some help at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.  We have several research projects on Stirling engines.  Go to www.grc.nasa.gov and do a search for Stirling.  You'll get several contacts.

Thanks to all for the pointers. I have some ideas which fall into the general category of 'So simple someone would have done it if there wasn't something wrong with it.'
Once I'm convinced I'm not going to make a fool of myself, I'll post details so you can shoot me down!

Pete.
