Orthotropic Materials..."Error Message"

Orthotropic Materials..."Error Message"

(OP)
I have typed in all the elastic stiffness parameters for Orthotropic material.  I submitted my job for analysis and an error occur saying that:

Anisotropic material properties without local oreintation system have been defined for 2460 elements. Anisotripic material properties must be defined in a local orientation system.  The elements are identified in element set ErrElemAnisotropicMaterial.

Can anyone give any insight into this problem

Thanks

RE: Orthotropic Materials..."Error Message"

You need to assign an orientation for the orthotropic material (i.e. to define a local coordinate system). The orthotropic material properties are assumed to be given with respect to this material orientation system.

You can define/assign an orientation system to the material in  "Property" section of ABAQUS/CAE, or, by using ORIENTATION keyword, if you write the input file by yourself.

For details and usage see:
ABAQUS/CAE User's Manual:
16.9.3 Assigning a material orientation

and:

ABAQUS Analysis User's Manual
2.2.5 Orientations
