(OP)
For all those familiar with my code post for setting the Description field in the configuration properties (thread559-132436), I finally got my wish.  With the release of service pack 4.0 for SolidWorks 2006, that code is no longer needed.  Added is the $DESCRIPTION parameter.  I have not been able to find it in the 4.0 help yet but after getting notified by SW that it was added, I tried it out.  It worked great in my limited test.  I guess it does pay (sometimes) to send in enhancements requests.  For all those who have asked about this functionality, enjoy.
