OMRF (ordinary moment resisting frames) and SMRF(special moment resisting frames) are well documented as Structural Systems. But my understanding is that these systems rely on beam-column connections to dissipate energy, as well as resist drifts. Being subject to large dynamic loads, they are required to be "full sections", and if welded, "continuously welded". So there is no talk of use of open web girders or trussed girders or trussed columns in the codes.

Any reference you can give, or literature, or insight will be highly appreciated.
