Arto,

If I had the time, trust me, there are several places I could check out, but unfortunately, I'm under constraints b/c I work for an engineering firm, and I'm putting in 12 hour days and working on the weekend...Thanks anyway,

RE: Flat Head (UG-34) Calculations

If the design has to meet any particular code, there's simply no substitute for having the code in question.

If the design doesn't have to meet any particular code, check out Roark's Formulas for Stress and Strain.  For non-critical applications, assume a cover plate is a circular plate, loaded over whole area, with OD equal to the bolt circle diameter.  For critical applications, use the code in question.

RE: Flat Head (UG-34) Calculations

tell them to get you an IHS subscription to the code - lots of other good stuff too [expensive, but you're worth it!]
http://www.ihserc.com/  always current too, so you don't have to worry about rev. control

RE: Flat Head (UG-34) Calculations

If you're using a standard B16.47 WN flange on your shell you could also use a standard B16.47 blind flange without performing any calculations.
