Strange cursor

Strange cursor

(OP)
A couple of times I must have accidently clicked on something or hit a key, and the cursor changes to something that looks like an upside down chemical flask. It locks you out of any other command and ESC doesn't work. The only way to get rid of  it is to save and quit, then restart.

Does anyone know what this thing is?

RE: Strange cursor

You toggled the filter selection.  I've done that too.

You probably hit the "l" key or some other such pre-mapped keys (that shouldn't be pre-mapped--seems like I noticed this problem first in 2006).

Hit F6 to clear it, or check help for other options.
