Suitable Electrode for 800H

Suitable Electrode for 800H

Suitable Electrode for 800H

(OP)
Hello all

I am looking for suitable welding process for welding UNS N 8810 (Commonly called 800H). Is SMAW OK for weldig butt joints 12mm thk 810 material. What electrode should i go for.
This is in Flare system.

Are there some pit falls (in waiting) while qualifying

How about the bend test, would there be problems with that?

Are there any Corrosion test thatn are generally asked in this material (For this project there is no specific requirement) but i would rather have a procedure qualified with corrosion test so that in future if some other clients ask for Corrosion test i will already have some background info?

RE: Suitable Electrode for 800H

Electrode selection is depending on the operating metal temperature.

If you are field welding pipe, the root pass should be made with the GTAW process with an Argon back purge and ER NiCr or ERNiCrFe filler metals (similar to Alloy 600). Simillar filler metals for the SMAW fill passes. In very high temp service conditions, E/ER NiCrCoMo-1 has proven effective.
