Hello!

Hello!

(OP)
Dear All,
It's a long time not to log on this forum since no web on site! Just finish a bayer project and have some feeling and questions to share with us. Today question is cable tray location in office(control center)building(5 floors): In general, we usually put the cable trays in the corridor above ceiling, i don't know whether you have this habit, and thus cables could be easily drawn from cable tray to different office rooms on two sides(all cables is polyethylene insulation, no chlorine element. But our client,Bayer, at last said this is forbidden according to germany standards. The reason is that corridor is the common way to get away when fire takes place. If cable is in the corridor and burns, a lot of smoke will be produced and be very dangerous to people. Many cases have proved it.
So germany put it in office room above ceiling. Although many cable trays and installation work through walls increased, it's more safe!!!

RE: Hello!

Interesting.

For the most part, the control rooms that I have designed/worked in, seen, have the cable trays beneath the floors. The rooms either have a raised floor, or "channels" cut into the concrete underneath the floor.

If a cable if burning, stuff may come down onto the ceiling, through the ceiling, into the offices?

By putting it under the raised floor, with concrete underneath it, there is less chance of stuff causing problems?

We are sure to put cable tray under falsed floor(raised floor) for IT , equipment rooms which has falsed floor. For rooms no falsed floor we will have to put cable tray above ceiling. And lighting, fire alarm and so on need cables arranged in the ceiling.
