Purge Oil Mist

Purge Oil Mist

Purge Oil Mist

(OP)
Have you guys come across a system whereas large MV motors equipped with self contained oil lubricated sleeve bearings, are modified or supplied with purging pipes in the bearing housing so the end user can purge the air above the oil to remove any contaniments like sand or dust. The purging medium can be either oil or a gas like nitrogen

RE: Purge Oil Mist

Sure. We use purge mist at our refinery.

The top of the bearing housings have a small pipe nipple (1/4" NPT)and then a TEE fitting with a 90 deg fitting pointing down to vent to the atmosphere on one end and the incoming purge on the other end.
